Under the general supervision of the Manager of Provincial Health Library Services, the Library Technician will support various aspects of the library’s overall operational needs :
- Access Services
- Training & Education
- Copyright & Permissions
- Web Presence & Engagement
- Patient Education Materials
- Content Management
- Literature Search
Major Responsibilities
Supporting outcomes for multiple operational needs such as :
- Subject Guides
- Patient Education Publication
- Educational / Training Content
- Internal / External Communications
- Content Management in HTML Environment, Shore Point, etc.
Drawing upon skills such as :
- Applying plain language standards
- Applying editorial copyediting standards
- HTML Coding skills
- Database Management skills
- Graphic Design skills
- Business Communication skills
- Assisting on site & Virtual patrons with technical troubleshooting
- Professional & Respectful conduct in a business environment
About You
We would love to hear from you if you have the following :
- Successful completion of a recognized Library and Information Technician Program required
- Undergraduate degree preferred
- Minimum of 2 years library experience or equivalent required
- Recent Health Science Library experience preferred
- Completion of a medical terminology course an asset
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Adobe Products, HTML coding, database management, CANVA, and e-learning authoring software preferred
- Working knowledge of intellectual property legislation and regulations, including copyright, database licensing
- Demonstrated ability to work independently following written or verbal instructions and guidelines with minimum supervision, recognizing when it is appropriate to ask questions and refer issues.
- Ability to develop working relationships with counterparts within the organization
- Strong organizational and time management skills and ability to meet deadlines
- Ability to communicate in a sensitive, courteous manner with a customer service focus
- Skills and experience in promoting learning cultures that nurture equity, diversity and inclusivity with a focus on intersectional values, analysis, and actions, clinical humility, and the responsible use of power and privilege.
- Competencies in other languages an asset; French preferred
- Willingness to travel within the province for assigned duties
- Possesses a valid Driver's License

Hours
Permanent Full-Time; 75 hours bi-weekly
Compensation and Incentives
$23.19 - $26.24 hourly
$42, - $47, annually
