Job Summary
We are looking for a skilled and creative Chef to join our culinary team in Toronto. The ideal candidate has 2–3 years of experience preparing and managing high-quality meals in a fast-paced kitchen environment. You will be responsible for menu planning, food preparation, supervising kitchen staff, and ensuring consistent quality and presentation of dishes.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook complete meals or specialty dishes for regular service and special events
- Plan and update menus, ensuring dietary needs and food quality standards are met
- Supervise and guide cooks, sous-chefs, and kitchen staff in food preparation and presentation
- Train kitchen staff in cooking techniques, plating, and food safety protocols
- Monitor food inventory, order supplies, and estimate costs and consumption
- Ensure compliance with hygiene and food safety regulations at all times
- Collaborate with clients or event planners for customized menus (e.g., weddings, banquets)
- Prepare dishes for customers with allergies or dietary restrictions
- Assist with equipment purchases, repairs, and kitchen maintenance
- Maintain detailed records of food sales, inventory, and waste
Qualifications
- 2–3 years of proven experience as a chef or cook in a commercial kitchen
- Culinary diploma or equivalent practical experience
- Strong leadership, time management, and multitasking skills
- Solid knowledge of food preparation, cooking methods, and health regulations
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
- Excellent attention to detail in food presentation and flavor
