Role Description
The Payroll Specialist will ensure smooth and efficient payroll processes for LEO within dedicated markets. The position requires actively working with ServiceNow ticketing, payroll providers, and other stakeholders, and holds responsibility for administration of all aspects of operational payroll tasks. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in U.S. payroll, with the flexibility to support the team and business as needed.
Your Responsibilities
- Handle payroll processing, ensuring compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and internal guides, with an eye for accuracy and deadlines.
- Daily work with ServiceNow to monitor, respond to managers’ and employees’ questions and inquiries about payroll matters and policies.
- Act as an expert in the field, supporting and participating in the implementation of new payroll-related processes when needed.
- Audit payroll data vs HR data; ensure data accuracy across systems and platforms, and prepare / deliver relevant payroll content.
- Provide payroll support for LEO Pharma managers and employees regarding employment matters, employee lifecycle, benefits, internal policies, payroll, and time & attendance inquiries.
- Work closely with stakeholders such as HR Operations, HRBP, outsourced vendors, HRIS Team, Rewards Team, Finance, and Internal Audit to foster good relationships and improve payroll processes.
- Administer and calculate compensation, rewards, and bonuses to employees; analyze, validate, and support the creation of severance deals.
- Manage employee Leave of Absence and sickness.
- Execute three phases of payroll runs successfully, controlled by the global payroll checklist along with agreed payroll calendars.
- Manage pay component work : analyze, define, and submit new pay components and work schedules to the HRIS Team for implementation. Participate in UAT testing of new pay components, work schedules, and overall payroll service enhancements.
- Analyze needs and raise change requests to expand, reduce, or modify services from payroll outsourcing partners.
- Manage the annual payroll wheel, including end‑of‑year activities and validating payroll calendars provided by vendors.
- Resolve finance queries related to payroll.
- Keep payroll working materials up‑to‑date with agreed standards.
- Follow local legislation changes that impact payroll and coordinate with relevant parties to ensure changes are reflected for the market.
Your Qualifications
Bachelor's degree (preferably in HR, accounting, or finance).2–4 years of hands‑on experience processing U.S. payroll.Solid understanding of payroll processes.In-depth knowledge of payroll data platforms and tools.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.High accuracy and attention to detail.Team player in a process‑driven environment.Proficiency in MS Office and related software.Track record of driving results and achieving outcomes, even under tough circumstances.Customer‑focused mindset—able to build strong customer relationships and deliver customer‑centric solutions.Salary
Base salary range : $85,000–$100,000 CAD per year.
