Department: UTSC:Dept-Arts, Culture & Media
Campus: University of Toronto Scarborough (UTSC)
Existing Vacancy: Yes

Description:

The University of Toronto Scarborough is a place of energy, enthusiasm and passion. Our commitment to inclusive excellence attracts the brightest learners, scholars and employees from around the globe. Our success has been made possible by the opportunity given to us by Indigenous hosts to operate on their territory, and we cherish our continuing partnerships with these communities. The University of Toronto Scarborough is an exciting campus with unlimited potential. Join us on our journey.

The Department of Arts, Culture and Media (ACM) at the University of Toronto Scarborough (UTSC) is a vibrant department that brings together a wealth of artistic and academic activity under one umbrella. Home to a dynamic community of faculty, staff and students, the department engages students interested in enriching their knowledge across a variety of artistic and academic disciplines and provides them with countless opportunities to explore multi and interdisciplinary ideas and practices related to arts, culture, and media. Working alongside faculty, a team of dedicated staff members provide administrative services and support the daily operation of the department to help create a truly rich and engaging student experience.

This search aligns with the University’s commitment to strategically and proactively promote diversity among our community members (Statement on Equity, Diversity & Excellence). Recognizing that Black, Indigenous, and other Racialized communities have experienced inequities that have developed historically and are ongoing, we strongly welcome and encourage candidates from those communities to apply.

Under the general direction of the Chair, the Manager, Finance and Administration manages all non- academic administrative and financial aspects of the Department of Arts Culture and Media and assists in the administration of its academic business. The incumbent exercises a high degree of judgment and initiative in resolving problems relating to administration, financial management (budgeting and cost containment), operations and human resources to manage the department’s day-to-day operations and support its academic mission. Duties include, among others: overseeing all financial budgets; assisting the Chair with planning/forecasting, preparing financial reports and cost recoveries, creating analysis of teaching costs; mounting and maintaining all budgets within the AMS framework; and preparing salary information and payroll requests for all administrative, casual and CUPE 3902 Unit 1 and Unit 3 members. It acts as liaison between faculty and staff on administrative matters and interpreting university and UTSC policies and procedures. This position is required to have a strong understanding of the internal workings and policies of the University including collective agreements, and legislated regulations, among others, to support senior faculty administrators, staff and students on administrative practices. It assumes a leadership role in departmental administration, and manages the administrative team to ensure the smooth and efficient delivery of services to faculty, staff and students.
