Our client in the food distribution industry is seeking for a Warehouse Manager in Saanichton, BC.

You, as the Warehouse Manager, assume a crucial role in guiding, instructing, and overseeing warehouse staff to not only meet but surpass customer expectations and uphold HACCP regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of warehouses, collaborating closely with the warehouse team
  • Maintain quality control in partnership with the production supervisor and general manager, ensuring adherence to company and HACCP quality standards
  • Monitor staffing levels for warehouse and production departments
  • Cultivate collaboration and coordination among various departments such as procurement, sales, and management
  • Optimize warehouse space and streamline product placement to enhance efficiency
  • Develop and enforce operational policies and procedures related to production, receiving, routing, inventory, and transportation within the warehouse
  • Communicate performance standards to staff, offering necessary training, mentoring, and coaching to align with company objectives
  • Conduct training sessions for new employees in conjunction with supervisors / lead hands
  • Perform performance appraisals during the probationary period to ensure thorough training
  • Investigate, document, and address all employee discipline issues according to company policies
  • Review and approve timesheets on a weekly basis
  • Undertake additional duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Possess progressive management experience in a similarly sized operation, or a blend of post-secondary education and experience
  • Preferably hold experience in the food industry
  • Demonstrate leadership experience in a production or warehouse setting, with a preference for a blend of both
  • Exhibit strong leadership and organizational skills
  • Must have experience in machine handling, with Train the Trainer experience highly valued
  • Capable of effective communication with clients, customers, colleagues, and staff
  • Physically able to perform production tasks in a meat processing environment
  • Display organization and strategic thinking abilities with effective task communication
  • Able to work as a team and actively participate in all room tasks such as cutting, portioning, grinding, packing, etc
  • Willingness to work with raw meat products and in a cold environment
  • Able to perform physical tasks requiring lifting, carrying, and moving objects safely and effectively
  • Possess physical fitness and stamina to sustain prolonged periods of activity, repetitive movements, and manual labor
