Position : ServiceNow Service Mapping Specialist / ITOM Technical Consultant

Location : Remote (within Canada; occasional in-person meetings in Edmonton, Alberta)

Duration : 12 Months Contract

Pay range : Hourly pay range CAD $50 - $65 per hour ( depending on experience and other qualifications)

Work Hours : 08 : 15 16 : 30 Alberta time, Monday to Friday

RecRoot is hiring a Service Mapping Specialist / ITOM Technical Consultant for our client in Alberta. The ideal candidate will work as part of a technical team, focusing on delivering high-quality service maps for critical applications with security vulnerabilities.

This role requires analytical and collaborative skills to assess IT environments, document relationships, and enable comprehensive mitigation plans.

RESPONSIBILITIES :

Service Mapping Delivery :

• Contribute to creating service maps for applications identified in the Technical Debt Mitigation (TDM) program.
• Work with the Service Mapping Lead to complete deliverables and maintain high-quality standards.
• Use ServiceNow to create and maintain service maps and associated documentation.

Collaboration and Consultation :

• Partner with the Service Mapping Lead to develop and monitor work plans.
• Consult application stakeholders to :
• Gather detailed information about applications.
• Refine and validate service maps and associated outputs.
• Respond to questions and enquiries throughout the process.

Analytical and Problem-Solving :

• Analyze IT environments, identify potential risks, and address problems quickly and independently.
• Apply evaluation and organizational skills to ensure effective service map creation.

Teamwork and Communication :

• Collaborate effectively in a multi-vendor / staff environment.
• Communicate with individuals with varying levels of technical understanding.
• Escalate risks and issues as necessary.

Program Adherence :

• Follow specified timelines and quality standards to ensure program success.
• Work within the guidelines of Alberta’s network security protocols.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS FOR THIS ROLE :

Experience :

• Hands-on experience with ServiceNow , particularly in Service Mapping and IT Operations Management ( ITOM ).
• Proven ability to analyze and document IT environments, including infrastructure, software, and hardware dependencies.
• Experience creating and maintaining detailed service maps for IT systems and applications.
• Demonstrated ability to engage and collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements, refine deliverables, and validate outputs.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with the ability to address technical issues independently.
• Experience working in multi-vendor, cross-functional teams and managing progress in a structured work environment.
• Familiarity with technical debt mitigation strategies and their implementation in IT systems.

Skills :

• Proficiency in ServiceNow tools and modules.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, for interacting with stakeholders at varying levels of technical expertise.
• Ability to manage tasks, adhere to strict timelines, and deliver high-quality outputs.
• Capability to identify and mitigate risks and escalate issues as necessary.

Education and Certifications :

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is preferred.
• Certifications in ServiceNow Service Mapping or ITOM are highly desirable.
• Familiarity with ITIL frameworks and principles is an asset.

Compensation :

Pay range is CAD $50 - $65 per hour, depending on experience and other qualifications.
