Who we need

We are looking for a Manufacturing Engineer to effectively manage and coordinate all incoming and outgoing information from various systems related to materials requirements planning as part of the Production Scheduling Team. You will be the liaison between the commercial, engineering, procurement and production teams ensuring transparent communication of progress and issues related to the impact of materials on the schedule. This includes setting up and facilitating the processes and supporting technical structure to consume data sent and published daily from the client and internal department relating to deficiencies, updates, timeline, scheduling, performing transactions within proprietary project management and ERP systems etc.

You will focus on:

  • Accuracy. You will ensure BoM information is loaded correctly into the system and flows through the different entities and user areas, including Project Management, Purchasing, Planning and Production. You will verify that accurate and adequate routing is created for the jobs where the raw materials, subassemblies and different parts flow.
  • Communication flow. You will build, set up, maintain, and improve the infrastructure for effective communication flow in and out of production utilizing tools such as Smartsheet, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Support production materials and build schedules. You will review, update, and complete tasks within ERP (IOS) and Project Management Software (Dataweb), including:
    • Define and validate production build quantities required for each job.
    • Develop and drive adherence to the defined workflow for materials management and planning.
    • Review and validate line item quantities for shipments.
    • Liaise between PM and Procurement/Production planning to identify, and resolve issues.
    • Work with procurement to define material planning implementation strategies.
    • Provide reporting and metrics to measure material management and planning effectiveness.
    • Define, organize and schedule materials releases and deliveries to align with shipment dates.
    • Generate, review and validate Summary Sheets for every job to ensure all items required are loaded.
  • Continuous improvement. You will:
    • Utilize engineering outputs (BOM, Drawing information, etc.) to execute planning material requirements for production jobs.
    • Support the development of SOPs, playbook and other training documents as required.
    • Review all critical milestones and dates related to material planning within MPS, Data web, and IOS, ensuring proper documentation and communication when a date changes.
    • Identify and measure Key Performance Indicators around materials planning effectiveness activity, including type, category, issues, root cause and solutions; ensure that any data captured is communicated effectively and accurately.

You have:

  • The education and experience. You have a diploma or degree in a related field. You have experience determining, assigning, and overseeing tasks in a Lean, fast-paced production environment. You have a process-improvement mindset and an ability to implement exceptional planning and time management. Although not required, process improvement experience or training in Lean, Six Sigma, or PDCA is an asset.
  • The technical skills. You are proficient with ERP and project management software as well as Microsoft Excel and extremely comfortable developing macros, using VLOOKUP, Index/Match, and PivotTables to work with data; intermediate to advanced knowledge of order processing systems. Experience interpreting CAD and working with Smartsheet and Power Query / BI would be an asset.
  • The solution-oriented approach. You have an ability to solve practical problems and deal with variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. You can interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. You are metrics driven with strong analytical skills and the ability to work with statistics to conduct root cause analysis to assess short-term and long-term production and operational impact.
  • The interpersonal skills. You have flexible and effective communication skills, and you can build internal and client relationships. You are comfortable facilitating meetings, proposing ideas, and presenting to senior managers.
