Time for our Spring Recruitment! Baker Tilly KDN is looking for inspired and enthusiastic individuals to join our team of professionals as a  Staff Accountant, Co-op for our September 2024 and January 2025 opportunities . These positions will be on-site, assisting the senior and / or partner / manager on assignments and projects including the completion of assignment tasks and project components. Kick off your career at a local firm backed by the power of a global brand. What would you be doing?

While assisting senior staff and partners on various assignments, you will have the opportunity to hone your skills and discover how we collaborate with our clients to resolve problems and execute strategies to help them succeed. Your primary responsibilities will include :

  • Perform audit duties at a junior level. This includes examining and analyzing journal and ledger entries, bank statements, inventories, expenditures, tax returns and other accounting and financial records, documents and systems of an individual, department, company or other establishment to ensure financial recording accuracy and compliance with established accounting standards, procedures and internal controls.
  • Plan, set-up and administer accounting systems and prepare financial information for an individual, department, company or other establishment.
  • Examine accounting records and prepare financial statements and reports.
  • Develop and maintain cost savings, reporting and internal control procedures.
  • Examine financial accounts and records and prepare income tax returns from accounting records.
  • Analyze financial statements and reports and provide financial, business and tax advice.
  • Participate in special projects as assigned by partner or senior staff.
  • Actively pursue self-development opportunities in line with the competency model and needs of firm.
  • Build and nurture strong working relationships with staff, partners and clients.
  • Actively contribute to positive team environment and support new initiatives.
  • Work as an effective team member to complete project components and assignment tasks.

  • Who is our ideal candidate?

  • Has or is working on a business or accounting degree. eg. BBA, BCOMM, CA, CGA, or CMA designation.
  • Entry level technical knowledge and skills.
  • Knowledge of Caseware / Caseview and TaxPrep would be an asset.
  • Interpersonal and relationship building skills.
  • Team player with a positive can-do approach.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Creative problem-solving ability.
  • Seeks and researches solutions or answers.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience in delivery of quality client service.
  • A general knowledge of firm’s products and services.
  • A general understanding of industry and market trends including opportunities, global and local business initiatives and stakeholder / competitor interests.
  • A desire to dig deep into work, learn all they can and have fun!
