Our client, an established private-equity-backed force in the CPG / Food Distribution industry, is on the cusp of significant growth and looking for a dynamic Controller to join their team!

The Controller will play a pivotal role in driving financial strategy and operational excellence. This role is essential to success, requiring a strategic thinker who can guide the team through their next growth phase, while being instrumental in optimizing financial processes, leading rigorous analysis, and ensuring financial reporting aligns with the company’s strategic goals.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Strategic Financial Leadership : Contribute to the development and execution of the company’s strategic plans, providing insights and recommendations that drive organizational efficiency and growth.
  • Comprehensive Financial Oversight : Monitor the company’s financial performance, preparing monthly and annual financial statements, and presenting comprehensive reporting packages to senior leadership and the Board of Directors.
  • Process Improvement : Evaluate business processes, anticipate future needs, uncover areas for improvement, and implement innovative solutions to enhance financial health.
  • Risk Management : Proactively assess long-term financial risks, ensuring that the company is well-positioned for sustainable success.
  • Collaboration & Visibility : Work closely with senior leadership and various stakeholders, gathering critical information to produce actionable reports and drive decision-making.
  • Operational Management : Oversee key financial operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, banking covenants, and cash flow management.
  • Cross-Functional Engagement : Engage with different departments to align financial practices and support the integration of new business entities.

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
  • Accounting designation (CPA, CMA, CGA, or CA) or an equivalent combination of related experience and education.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in a senior accounting or financial management role.
  • Background in the CPG, Distribution, or Supply Chain space preferred.
  • Proven experience in creating financial reports, including P&L, Balance Sheets, budgets, and key metrics like EBITDA and pro forma calculations.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work closely with senior management and influence key decisions.
  • Exceptional analytical and organizational skills, with a proactive and self-directed approach.
  • Experience in a finance role within a private equity-backed company is a strong asset.
