About Williams Lake

A vibrant city in the Cariboo Region - the heart of BC's central interior - Williams Lake offers an abundance of year-round recreational activities.

From mountain biking, camping, kayaking and golfing in the summer, to downhill and cross-country skiing, snowmobiling and ice fishing in the winter.

If mountain biking is on your bucket list this summer, Williams Lake is known as the Shangri-La of mountain biking, boasting over 200 kilometers of single-track trails available within city limits and the largest bike park in the interior.

To the south, 100 Mile House and the South Cariboo are characterized by rolling hills, mixed forests, grasslands, and hundreds of freshwater lakes that are ideal for fishing, kayaking, and swimming.

To the west, the vast Chilcotin region offers an incredibly diverse landscape, from the hot and dry grasslands and pine forests of the interior plateau, to the rugged glacial peaks of the Coast Mountains.

The Cariboo-Chilcotin is the traditional homeland of the Secwépemc, Tŝilhqot'in and Dakelh First Nations, contributing to a strong and diverse indigenous culture and presence throughout the region.

In fact, in 2014, a portion of the Tŝilhqot'in Nation's traditional territory was recognized by the highest court in Canada as theirs to control, manage and benefit from.

This 1,900 square-kilometer area is known as the first ever declaration of Aboriginal Title Land in Canada. We encourage applicants to learn more about all the first nations on whose traditional territory they will be living, working and recreating.
