As our Heavy Equipment Technician , you’ll play an integral role in performing major diagnostics and major repairs and servicing all equipment in fleet with minimal supervision. You are responsible for providing the highest quality of service and complying with the company’s established policies and procedures. This position may be responsible for developing and coaching apprentices.

- Critical Thinking . You cut to the chase by collecting and examining technical information and make decisions on what is relevant in order to pinpoint issues with mechanical systems. You will have an in-depth understanding of diagnostic tools, how to access product information, and you’ll be proficient in providing solutions to problems in a timely manner with minimal assistance. As well you will thrive on the challenge of troubleshooting and possess the ability to read various system diagrams.
- Keeping Your Cool . You may occasionally need to work under pressure while maintaining a strong focus on quality service. This can be a physical job with heavy lifting and carrying. The pace can be fast, the hours can be long during busy cycles and you may also need to work overtime. You will also realize that you need to recharge regularly – we insist that you take your vacation time!
- Mentorship. You may work with apprentices from time to time. Listen actively and perform competence analysis of their work. Identify areas for them to improve and provide on-the-job training to assist in their development.
- Safety Minded. First and foremost – you work safely, following all safety programs and procedures – every time. We have adopted best practices when developing our systems and procedures and you’ll become a champion for consistently staying in the lines.
- Organization. This is a detail-oriented position and you have already developed personal systems for organizing your work, ensuring you are prepared with information, parts and specialty tooling prior to attending a worksite.
