Sales Manager & Technical Sales Representative
Express Employment Professionals – Cambridge is seeking a motivated, well‑organized leader with deep experience in prospecting and building strong customer relationships. This hands‑on, player‑coach role combines strategic sales management with active field sales execution.
Base Pay Range
CA$85,000.00 – CA$110,000.00 per year
Core Responsibilities
- Recruit, hire, onboard, train, coach, and develop a team of three direct‑selling Technical Sales Representatives
- Set clear expectations, territories, goals, and performance metrics for the sales team
- Conduct regular ride‑alongs, field coaching, and performance reviews
- Hold team members accountable for results, professionalism, and adherence to company values
- Make personnel decisions, including promotions, corrective action, and terminations as needed
- Build a sales culture focused on accountability, learning, and execution
Direct Technical Sales (Player–Coach Role)
Actively sell industrial paint systems, equipment, and related solutions alongside the PresidentManage and grow accounts in non‑assigned territories, strategic accounts, and special opportunitiesIdentify customer needs and recommend technically sound, cost‑effective solutionsConduct on‑site evaluations, system specifications, and technical presentationsSupport complex or high‑value opportunities alongside field sales repsMaintain strong relationships with key customers, material supplier partners, and key suppliersSales Strategy & Growth
Partner with the President to develop and execute sales strategies aligned with company goalsAssist in defining territories, market focus, and growth prioritiesTrack sales pipeline, forecasting, and performance metricsIdentify new markets, applications, and opportunities for expansionProvide market feedback on customer needs, competitive activity, and product opportunitiesTechnical Expertise & Customer Support
Serve as a technical resource for customers and internal sales teamSupport system design, application troubleshooting, and performance optimizationStay current on industrial coating technologies, application methods, and industry trendsCoordinate with operations, engineering, and suppliers to ensure customer successQualifications
Required
Proven experience in industrial sales, preferably coatings, paint systems, finishing equipment, or related manufacturing environmentsStrong technical aptitude with the ability to understand and explain complex systemsDemonstrated ability to sell and lead at the same timeExperience hiring, training, and managing salespeopleExcellent communication, presentation, and relationship‑building skillsWillingness to travel regularly (up to 50% overnight) to customer sites and with sales repsPreferred
Experience selling capital equipment or engineered systemsBackground in industrial finishing, coatings, or automationPrior experience in a small or entrepreneurial company environmentEmployment Type
