School District No. 64 (Gulf Islands) invites applications for the 1.0 FTE continuing position of Vice Principal of Saturna Elementary School commencing August 1st, 2024.
This teaching / administrative position on Saturna Island, off the southeast coast of Vancouver Island, has a projected enrolment of ap-proximately 12 students in grades K to 6.

The successful candidate will deliver high-quality programs to elementary students, operate the school, and perform district-level duties as required.
This position requires a high energy level and the ability to sustain a heavy and varied workload. The successful candidate will demonstrate an ability to work successfully with all partner groups.
Documented qualifications must include :
- Valid B.C. Ministry of Education Certificate of Qualification or equivalent
- Relevant Master’s degree or in progress
- Recent school teaching and leadership experience
Applications should be accompanied by evidence of the following :
- Strong working knowledge of BC curriculum and student learning in an elementary, multi-age setting
- Experience teaching in a multi-age setting, including adapting curriculum to address broad, multi-grade themes
- Ability to guide the development and implementation of shared values, vision, mission, and goals to sup-port engagement, learning, and success for all learners
- Demonstrated success in implementing current pedagogical practices
- Experience supervising learning with a focus on instructional and assessment practices that maximize stu-dent development, engagement, and learning
- Ability to implement the goals in the District’s Indigenous Education Enhancement Agreement
- An understanding of environmental, place-based & differentiated education
- A track record of excellent initiative, organizational, conflict resolution and interpersonal skills
- Strong, value-based practice supporting students with diverse learning needs
