Health Promotion Program Volunteer Assistant
Location : SPLC, local community centers, parks, and public libraries
Volunteers Needed : 3
Reports to : Program Coordinator
Position Summary
The Health Promotion Program Volunteer Assistant will support outreach and program activities designed to promote the health and well‑being of Korean older adults and seniors. The role involves assisting with both virtual and in‑person sessions, helping with community engagement, and supporting program implementation.
Responsibilities
- Facilitate and support virtual and in‑person sessions (e.g., workshops, trips, and gatherings) for Korean‑speaking seniors
- Assist in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of program activities
- Provide assistance with event setup, registration, and participant coordination
- Conduct outreach to ethno‑cultural communities and faith groups through ethnic media and cultural events
- Attend and actively participate in team meetings and required training sessions
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor
Skills & Qualifications
Excellent verbal and written communication skillsFluency in Korean (required)Strong organizational and time‑management skillsAbility to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a teamWillingness to take direction from staff and follow established proceduresSensitivity to the needs and challenges of older adults and seniorsProficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) is an assetBoundaries & Limitations
Volunteers are not required to answer questions from participants that fall outside the scope of the programWorking Conditions
May involve extended periods of computer use during virtual sessionsMay experience frequent interruptions or shifting prioritiesSome activities will take place outdoors within the surrounding communityOrientation / Training
Volunteer Services will conduct orientation on organization’s policies and procedures, including COVID‑19 measures.IPAC Mandatory training for onsite positionsOrganizational Training for new volunteersContribute to the efficient functioning of an organization that promotes healthy and independent living.Work in a friendly environment with others who want to make a difference.Supervision & Evaluation
Supervision and support will be provided by the Program Coordinator.Other Requirements
