The Team
The A&M Tax Canada Team offers comprehensive tax advisory services to clients in various sectors and industries. With a deep understanding of the Canadian tax landscape, the team helps clients navigate the complex and evolving tax issues that affect their business transactions, investments, and operations.
How you will contribute
As a member of the A&M Corporate Tax team, you will:
- Conduct in-depth research on current tax laws and regulations and provide practical guidance to senior leadership and clients on the tax implications of business activities, transactions, and expansions. Identify opportunities to optimize tax positions while ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Support and, as appropriate, represent the organization during tax audits and inquiries conducted by regulatory agencies by preparing documentation, coordinating responses, and communicating effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Assist in the development and implementation of tax risk mitigation strategies and support the team in responding to legislative and regulatory changes impacting the organization and clients.
- Lead, mentor, and develop members of the tax compliance and consulting team by providing day-to-day guidance, coaching, and performance feedback. Promote a culture of quality, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Oversee and enhance tax compliance processes, identifying opportunities to streamline workflows, improve accuracy, and implement best practices in tax reporting and documentation.
- Establish and maintain strong, consultative relationships with clients by developing an understanding of their businesses and unique circumstances, delivering high-quality work, and providing timely, proactive support.
- Manage multiple client engagements concurrently, including coordinating engagement teams, maintaining active communication with clients, and managing scope, timelines, and deliverables to ensure client satisfaction.
- Oversee engagement economics, including staffing, budgets, billing, and collections, and escalate risks or issues as appropriate.
- Encourage ongoing professional development within the team by supporting training initiatives and ensuring team members remain current on changes in tax law and evolving tax practices.
- Support and promote diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives within the practice and demonstrate inclusive leadership behaviors.
- Collaborate with colleagues across Tax and other A&M service lines to understand the firm’s broader capabilities and identify opportunities to introduce additional services that align with client needs.
- Participate in business development efforts by supporting proposal development, contributing to client pitches, and helping to identify and cultivate new and existing client relationships.
- Maintain regular contact with clients and professional network contacts to discuss business developments and identify opportunities where Tax and A&M can provide value.
Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree required, with a Master’s degree in taxation or accounting, or completion of CPA Canada’s In-Depth Tax Program
- At least 7 years of progressive tax or accounting experience, ideally within an accounting firm or managing the tax function at a large organization
- Strong writing, analytical, research, excel, and organizational skills
- Strong communication, presentation, project management, and business development skills
- Strong sense of personal motivation as well as the ability to work with a team
- Ability to work in a dynamic, time-sensitive environment.

The salary range is $175,000 annually, dependent on several variables including but not limited to education, experience, skills, and geography. In addition, A&M offers a discretionary bonus program which is based on a number of factors, including individual and firm performance. Please ask your recruiter for details.
