YOUR MISSION

As Director, Global Tax Compliance you will be responsible of the worldwide tax compliance obligations, Transfer Pricing documentation and the tax provision of Cirque du Soleil.

You will lead and supervise a team of 5 qualified tax professionals in corporate tax and will be reporting to the Senior Director, Taxation.

You will play a key role in helping Cirque maintain and enhance its overall tax function and develop a vision for the team.

As the Director, Global Tax Compliance you will be responsible for :

  • Proactively inform the Senior Director of changes in tax law impacting the company, new compliance regulations in existing or new markets, measure the tax implications for the group and propose options, if any, to optimize the tax position;
  • Participate in due diligence efforts on new acquisitions, propose options to facilitate the integration post-closing;
  • Provide insight, solutions, and strategic recommendations to support improvement of the current transfer pricing structure;
  • Optimize the tax attributes of the group by providing strategic recommendations on different current positions or on new transactions;
  • Collaborate with the Senior Director and other managers to develop, evaluate and implement tax strategies aligned with the Group’s economic model;
  • Review all transfer pricing documentation required for the group and ensure that the transfer pricing policies are respected throughout the year, including any other related reports;
  • Review all tax returns, including states / provinces and ensure that all deadlines are met, including any forms and any installment / final payment by their due date;
  • Lead the claim of any tax incentives available and ensure that all significant tax incentives available are claimed;
  • Conduct / review tax research and prepare / review memoranda in support of adopted tax positions;
  • Establish / maintain robust documentation and internal controls as well as identify process improvements and streamline processes;
  • Lead the whole process of the tax provision, including managing the relationship with the external auditor;
  • Review the global tax provisions in accordance with the US GAAP including tax-related notes and any documentation required;
  • Oversee and manage corporate tax audits;
  • Lead the process of the annual tax projections (budget process) for the Group;
  • Build, foster and maintain internal relationships with various departments and act as a business partner;
  • Motivate and mentor team members to foster their development and growth;
  • Manage relationships with external tax advisors.

YOUR UNIQUE EXPERTISE

  • Must have a minimum of 10 years of tax experience in a Big 4 and / or multinational corporation;
  • Must have Canadian, US, and transfer pricing experience;
  • Must have a professional accounting designation (CPA - CA, CGA, CMA);
  • Must have a master’s degree in taxation or completed CICA’s In-Depth Tax Course;
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills including the ability to explain highly complex subject matter in simple terms;
  • Focused on driving business insight and making decisions;
  • Leadership skills in order to build a strong team and establish good collaboration with all business partners;
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced environment, with the ability to prioritize and handle several tasks simultaneously.
