Job Summary
A great opportunity to have a hands-on role helping children and youth in your community
Youth Custody Services provides Secure and Open sentenced custody as well as remand and pre-court detention for male and female youth in custody under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
Youth Justice contributes to public safety by promoting the development of law abiding behaviour primarily through an integrated, multi-disciplinary approach.
As a Nurse, you are a member of the interdisciplinary team and provide comprehensive nursing care to youth in custody under the general direction of the Health Care Services Supervisor, or Correctional Supervisor.
You consult with youth, families, and members of the interdisciplinary team and develop individual plans supporting needs of youth in custody.
Job Requirements :
- Registered with the British Columbia College of Nurses & Midwives (BCCNM);
- OR Eligible for registration with the British Columbia College of Nurses & Midwives (BCCNM).
- Level 2 OFA (has to be completed upon appointment).
Preference may be given to applicants with :
- Experience working with adolescents from diverse cultural backgrounds and / or with mental health needs.
- Experience with opiate agonist therapy.
Willingness Statements :
Shift work may berequired, including working nights, based on operational requirements.
