Background & Key Responsibilities
Reporting to the CEO, the Senior Director, Operations is responsible for leading and developing highly motivated and skilled electrical engineering and technical services teams.
They include power system engineers and technicians skilled in metering, protection and controls, communications, battery storage systems and related software applications, project managers and other professionals.
This individual will also be responsible for leading and executing business strategies to meet organizational objectives and exceed customer expectations.
This individual will be focused on creating meaningful and sustained productivity improvements and best practices that will enhance the customer and team member experience, increase efficiency, reduce costs, and position Rodan for future growth.
They will need to develop strong, successful working relationships and ensure a smooth transition into the team. He / she is a strategic leader who is passionate about process excellence and building strong cross-functional relationships while driving profitability.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure projects are delivered safely, with the highest quality, on time and on budget.
- Develops capabilities in the team to deliver on the opportunities of today while preparing for the future.
- Attract and develop top talent.
- Serve as a key member of the leadership team and provide input on overall business direction, foster a positive work culture, and strong collaboration with other functional leaders.
- Continuous learning and thought leadership while participating in industry events and organizations.
- Works to turn business needs / requirements and work with a team to develop solutions that are simple and deliver the business needs and planned benefits drive continuous improvement to the customer experience.
- Proactively works with front-line operations, managers and subject matter experts, leveraging best practices to configure an optimal automation solution.
- Develop and maintain a high performing team focused on executing with data-driven decision making, collaboration, accountability, and innovative thinking.
- Direct leadership of two Managers internally, the Manager of Engineering, and Manager of Technical Services. Indirectly lead the Engineering team of 70 employees, and 30 Technicians.
- Work closely with the senior team and all relevant key partners on all related issues.
- Build strong cross functional relationships to ensure the programs and support identified align to organizational objectives.
Projects can range from $10,000 up to $10M+.

- 10+ years of progressive engineering experience, having managed engineering and technical staff, vendors, and projects.
- Strong understanding of North American electricity markets and the energy services sector (specifically demand response, distributed energy resources, and software / energy as a service).
- Must have strong knowledge of power systems engineering and design.
- Prior experience in strategic development, project management and client management is required.
- Possesses excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, flexibility and resourcefulness.
- Product development leadership by developing scalable solutions and innovative business models.
- Entrepreneurial approach to business development with a positive let’s figure it out attitude and a desire to succeed.
- Strong C-Level presence, strategic acumen, consultative-selling skills and executive credibility.
- Powerful verbal and written communication skills utilizing various mediums.
- Excellent financial and analytical skills.
- Must be registered with the Professional Engineers of Ontario (PEO).
- Formal project management training is an asset.
- Ability to travel throughout the US and Canada.
- High attention to detail and proven ability to manage multiple, competing priorities simultaneously.
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills, as well as the ability to use hard data and metrics to back up assumptions.
- Ability to adapt rapidly in a fast-moving environment with shifting priorities and the ability to react quickly, dynamically, and intelligently.

Salary range : $175k-$200k + 20% bonus.
