Here is what a typical day looks like
- Review and interpret policy wordings and parameters to determine if coverage is in-force and triggered by the loss
- Manage claims settlement process with independent adjusters; providing recommendations and direction for negotiation and settlement within authority provided by insurers
- Perform in house adjustment of claims within authority granted by provincial authorities and insurers
- Set and maintain accurate loss and expense reserves based upon investigation and / or recommendations; including validating independent adjusters’ or insurers’ reserve calculations and advising of discrepancies
- Perform business interruption calculations
- Provid feedback to Underwriters, Risk Management, and Brokerage teams on claims frequency and physical hazards
- Maintain and action abeyance files and payment schedules
- Draft and distribut correspondence to insureds, insurers, third party claimants, adjusters and other industry members
- Participating in the Emergency After-Hours Claims Service on-call rotation
The value you bring :
- General Insurance Level 2 License required
- Working towards your CIP or CAIB preferred
- RIBO License is an asset
- Minimum 5 years’ experience working with Claims in the insurance industry
- Clear professional communication, both verbal and written
- Knowledge of MS products including Word, Excel, Outlook
