Hospital Distribution / Transportation Attendant (Casual)

In Hospital Replenishment, BC Clinical & Support Services

Vancouver, BC

Under general supervision the incumbent is responsible for transporting a variety of supplies and / or materials within the facility using a tow motor and by methods such as loading items by hand or using pallet jack, transporting to specific unit / department, delivering specials such as perishable or valuable items.

What you'll do

  • Transport a variety of supplies, equipment and materials by foot or by operating a tow motor or with a vehicle.
  • Transports a variety supplies and materials such as laundry, pharmacy supplies, patient belongings, office related items, and any other items requiring transportation.
  • Deliver and pick up various items such as mail / parcels, supplies, equipment and pharmacy items from various areas within the hospital or other healthcare facilities.

What you bring

Qualifications

  • Grade 10 graduation.
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license if applicable
  • An equivalent combination of education, training and experience with retail, inventory, stocking, replenishment, warehouse, supply chain, distribution, stores and merchandising.

Skills & Knowledge

  • Ability to deal effectively with others and to work as a team player
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
  • Ability to organize work.
  • Ability to operate related equipment.
  • Living within half an hour (Richmond, Vancouver, Burnaby, Coquitlam and New Westminster) from Vancouver General Hospital is an asset.
  • Commitment to upholding the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada as per TRC (2015) and BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019).
  • As a strong asset for consideration, we are looking for our successful candidate to have : Knowledge of social, economic, political and historical realities impacting indigenous communities and familiarity with Indigenous Cultural Safety and anti-racism and accompanying reports (BC DRIPA, TRC, etc.).
