PROFILE
Provides technical and functional support for the firm’s financial applications and reporting tools. Working closely with the Financial Systems Architect, the Analyst is responsible for day‑to‑day system maintenance, user support, reporting, and process improvement initiatives. The role involves gathering business requirements, troubleshooting issues, developing solutions, and ensuring financial systems are optimized to support the firm’s operations.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide daily support for the firm’s financial systems, addressing user inquiries and troubleshooting technical or functional issues.
- Assist with the implementation of system upgrades, enhancements, and patches, ensuring smooth adoption and minimal disruption.
- Work with the Financial Systems Architect to maintain and support integrations between financial systems and other firm applications.
- Gather, analyze, and document user requirements for new reports, workflows, and system functionality.
- Develop and maintain financial reports, dashboards, and analytical tools to support decision‑making.
- Test system changes, enhancements, and integrations to ensure quality and accuracy.
- Assist with data integrity checks, reconciliations, and ongoing system audits.
- Maintain documentation of system processes, workflows, and reporting structures.
- Collaborate with finance and IT teams to identify opportunities to streamline and automate financial processes.
- Liaise with vendors as needed for issue resolution and support escalations.
- Stay current on industry best practices and financial systems developments, sharing insights with the Architect and Finance leadership.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science (or equivalent 4-year degree).3–5 years of experience supporting financial systems in a professional services or corporate environment; law firm experience is an asset.Familiarity with financial applications such as Aderant Expert, Elite Enterprise, or similar platforms.Solid understanding of accounting principles, financial transaction flows, and system interfaces.Strong knowledge of SQL and proficiency in developing queries and reports.Experience with reporting tools (e.g., SSRS, Power BI, or equivalent).Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with attention to detail.Effective communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts into user-friendly language.Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and work independently with minimal supervision.Team‑oriented mindset with a willingness to learn and grow under the guidance of the Financial Systems Architect.Bilingualism (French / English) may be required in some offices.BENEFITS & PERKS

Starting salary will be determined based on an applicant’s individual skills, competencies and unique qualifications. Gowling WLG employees have the potential to exceed this range based on tenure and performance.
