The primary job responsibilities of the Accounting Clerk are to ensure all day‑to‑day accounting functions are done in an effective and efficient manner. You’ll work in a busy team environment, have an eye for detail, and be able to adjust to changing priorities. You’re all about customer service, whether dealing with internal staff, vendors, or residents, and you’re flexible and capable of shifting priorities during peak periods throughout the year.
What YOU’RE Responsible for :
- Complete full‑cycle accounting tasks and accounting system processes in a timely manner
- Ensure conformance with established procedures and policies; in accordance with City of Beaumont directives and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Receive and respond to inquiries from internal and external stakeholders
- Process payments and charges to accounts, prepare routine reports from records, prepare accounting entries, collect outstanding accounts receivables, reconcile accounts, and prepare and process bills and invoices
- Identify opportunities for automating workflows to improve efficiency
- Prepare and balance all deposits
- Ensure accounts receivables are up‑to‑date and accurate
- Process and organize utility applications to prepare for the monthly utility billing
- Prepare and process tax certificates, land titles, penalties, and other discrepancies
- Other responsibilities can be assigned that are within the scope of the job
- Ensure adherence to Legislative regulations, Safety Directives and procedures, and all respectful workplace standards
- Report unsafe conditions and near‑miss incidents promptly
- Attend regular safety meetings and promote a positive attitude
- Other duties as assigned
What YOU Bring :
Post‑secondary diploma in Business, Accounting, Finance or a related fieldMinimum two years related work experience providing financial support, including taxes, utilities, general AR, and full‑cycle Accounts Payable / Receivable processExperience working in a municipal environment is considered an assetProficient skills in Microsoft Office Suite with advanced skills in ExcelProficient skills working in Accounting software (experience working with Great Plains Dynamics software is an asset)Strong organizational and time‑management skillsStrong knowledge of accounting principles and practicesExcellent customer service skillsWhat WE Offer :
