Role : HVAC Trainer / Quality Assurance Specialist

Status : Regular, Full Time

Reports to : Manager Compliance and Standards

Business Unit : Enercare Home and Commercial Services

Department : Technical Training

Location : Remote

The primary roles in this position include Support the design, development and delivery of effective and efficient operational training and curriculum.

Programs will be designed for new and existing technical staff and facilitates the provision of a skilled and competent technical workforce that meets Enercare's business objectives and reinforces the values and beliefs of the business.

Complete Quality, Technical and safety assessments of work carried out by Technical Field Staff and initiate corrective actions as appropriate.

This may include coaching on the job training and briefings to ensure that Technical Field Staff are competent to carry out their duties effectively, in compliance with all statutory legislation and codes of practice and to the customers satisfaction.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Accountable for the design, develop and delivery of Technical training to the required standard, within budget and on schedule, ensuring the development needs are met.
  • Develop and employ evaluation techniques to aid identification of technical training needs and determine the most effective methods of satisfying these needs.
  • Work with Technical Support, Health & Safety, Marketing and Operational Line Management on training requirements.
  • Ensure the technical, safety and overall content of training curriculum are designed and updated in line with technological developments, in accordance with company policies and in compliance with relevant legislation, Operational Procedures and Occupational standards.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of delivered training solutions, and where necessary take action to address any gaps identified.
  • Be aware of changing operational and technical situations and developments in technology, evaluating the information and implementing innovative training solutions to meet the changing needs.
  • Work with manufacturers to provide appropriate and validated specialist support.
  • Provide support in the preparation and development of Operational Procedures.
  • As directed liaises with external bodies such as appliance manufacturers, educational, government and standards agencies to assist in the development of policy.
  • Maintains an up-to-date knowledge of Statutory Regulations, Codes of Practice & Procedures
  • Sound knowledge of human performance, adult learning principles, organizational development, instructional systems design, and curriculum development.
  • Plans and carries out quality, technical and safety assessments on work carried out by Technical Field Staff.
  • Identifies and provides coaching, on the job training and briefings to Technical Field Staff.
  • Identifies, investigates and communicates corrective actions as appropriate.
  • Develops and promotes best (technical and non-technical) practices for the field.
  • Improves technical awareness and ability of field based staff.
  • Attends Patch, OHS&E and Field Manager meetings to communicate trends and weaknesses.
  • Participates in TSSA incident investigations as required.

Qualifications

  • Must have valid HVAC License(s) (Refrigeration / Air Conditioning and Gas Technician G2).
  • Must have valid driver’s license with clean driver’s abstract maintained.
  • Must have a minimum of 5 years recent relative HVAC experience, training and development experience.
  • Ability to design and develop technical training curriculum and documentation.
  • Ability to deliver and present training materials to high standard.
  • Ability to undertake assessments (written and observed).
  • Knowledge of HVAC systems, statutory regulations, codes of practice and operational procedures.
  • Knowledge of training principles.
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety requirements.
  • Excellent communication and coaching skills.
  • Good organizational and planning ability.
  • Committed to promoting technical excellence.
  • Ability to travel.
  • Highly self-motivated, work with minimum supervision and effectively plan / organize own work.
  • Committed to delivering exceptional customer service to promote high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • University degree, college diploma or equivalent. Qualification in Adult Education would be an asset.
  • Results oriented, achieving high levels of individual and team performance.
