Position : Family Lawyer (minimum of 5+ years of experience with a book of business)
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Family Law Lawyer to join a well-respected law firm with a rich history and a client-centered approach.
In this role, you will provide comprehensive legal counsel and representation to clients navigating various family law matters, including divorce, separation, child custody, and property division.
As part of a collaborative team, you will work on finding practical solutions to sensitive issues, helping clients achieve favorable outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Advise clients on family law issues, including prenuptial agreements, cohabitation agreements, separation and divorce proceedings, and child / spousal support.
- Represent clients in family court, as well as in negotiation, mediation, and arbitration settings.
- Draft and prepare a variety of legal documents, such as affidavits, pleadings, applications, and related paperwork.
- Manage client expectations and maintain effective communication throughout the legal process.
- Collaborate with other team members and external experts (such as financial advisors, mediators, and mental health professionals) to provide comprehensive support.
- Stay informed on developments in family law and applicable court rulings.
Qualifications
- Active membership in good standing with the Law Society of British Columbia.
- At least 5 years of experience in family law practice.
- Strong understanding of family law legislation, rules, and procedures in British Columbia.
- Proven ability to manage complex and sensitive family law cases effectively.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for managing client relationships.
- Strong negotiation and litigation skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with a team.
- Book of business required
Compensation :
Base salary depending on the year of call + bonus
