Business Systems Analyst, Timmins, Ontario
When you join our team as a Business Systems Analyst , and as a member of the Forestry Information TechnologyGroup, you will be responsible for the management and integrity of theEnterprise Geographic Information System (GIS) data.
You will also supportforestry operations through day-to-day tasks involving analysis, design, anddevelopment.
What You’ll Do
- Administer Interfor’s Organization with regards to Enterprise GIS and ArcGIS Online.
- Provide client service, support, and training to users regarding GIS / GPS and Citrix technology;
- Track service requests and incidents using Interfor’s Incident Management Tool.
- Analyze, design, develop, and maintain mobile applications, surveys, and dashboards to support field operations.
- Design, develop, and maintain custom applications for the purpose of data analysis and reporting.
- Maintain Interfor’s roads network dataset for the purpose of performing routing analysis in support of calculating haul distances and cycle times from harvest blocks to mills.
- Maintain Interfor’s mosaic datasets containing imagery and LiDAR-derived raster products.
- Assist with the periodic and annual updates of data within Interfor’s Enterprise GIS.
- Develop training material specific to Interfor on the use of GIS software.
- Support members of the Forestry IT group by performing some of their duties during their absence.
- Collaborate with the Woodlands Teams in continuous improvement initiatives to support Interfor’s forestry operations.
- Perform a technology watch to stay on top of best practices and trends.
What You Offer
- Degree or Diploma in Forestry or GIS (or equivalent experience)
- 3-5 years of relevant experience in Forestry (required)
- GIS and remote sensing techniques
- Automating data processing tasks using program scripting languages (Python, Transact-SQL)
- Relational Database Management Systems (SQL server)
- ESRI Suite
- Proficient in English (French is an asset)
- Analytic, sound judgment, and problem-solving skills
- Creative and innovative
- Initiative, independence, ability to adapt to an operational environment
- Build solid relationships in an environment focused on teamwork and collaboration
