Business Systems and ERP Project Manager

We are seeking an experienced Business Systems & ERP Project Manager with the ability to indirectly lead a small team of super users and to work with an external implementation partner to modernize and expand our Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central platform.

It will be crucial to collaborate with functional leaders that know the business intimately but are not as familiar with the world of business systems and best practices.

The right candidate will bring their formal training in project management and implementing best in class business systems to help streamline the business and future proof our systems investment.

This position is responsible for extracting business values and processes to implement high quality, robust, scalable, and cost-effective operations related business systems.

The successful candidate will collaborate with the function areas and implementation partner to coordinate requirements gathering, vendor evaluation, strategic systems planning, process reengineering, design, development, documentation, release management, and business adoption of new methods, processes and goals.

This is a role that will balance your strategic and analytical capabilities with the soft skills to ensure that the broader team is buying into the process and feels included and heard.

This is a player / coach role and will require both breadth of experience across business systems, as well as an element of jumping in to help execute and manage our IT strategy and deployment.

There is progression for the right person and the role will be very fulfilling on the basis that decisions made by this person will directly impact the success and performance of the business.

General Duties & Responsibilities :

  • Define scope and objectives on business opportunities.
  • Prepares functional process charts to analyze business operations.
  • Gathers and document business requirements.
  • Plans, designs or modifies practical manual and automated business procedures.
  • Assists with the design of business process and documentation.
  • Prepares detailed specifications for business applications.
  • Performs a lead role in the planning, design, development, and deployment of new operations business applications and enhancements to existing business applications.
  • Meets with decision makers, systems owners, and end users to define business standards and systems goals, and identify and resolve business systems issues.
  • Performs cost-benefit and return on investment analyses for proposed systems to aid management in making implementation decisions.
  • Coordinates and perform in-depth tests, for modified and new systems.
  • Conducts research on hardware and software products to justify recommendations and to support purchasing.
  • Provides orientation and training to end users for all modified and new systems.
  • Manages 3rd party IT partner and facilitates IT requirements internally.
  • Helps to support strategic plan development related to business systems and IT requirements to meet company goals.

What You Bring to the Team :

  • PMP (PMI Institute) or related training in Project Management
  • Post-Secondary Education in Computer Science, Information Science, Management Information Systems, Business Administration or a related discipline.
  • Minimum three years of related work experience in Operations Systems.
  • ERP systems experience is a requirement such as SAP, Oracle and Microsoft D365 (with preference for D365 Business Central).
  • Business Analyst certification or relevant courses are preferred.
  • Must have previous experience with operations business applications.
  • Experience with Microsoft SQL, SSIS, SSRS, SSAS and / or Oracle database.
  • Working knowledge of Project Management best practices.
  • Able to communicate on a technical and non-technical level depending on the audience.
  • Proven leadership in coaching and developing teams.
  • Highly developed analytical skills.
  • Manage large and small projects.
  • Work independently and on collaborative teams, as necessary.
  • Ability to work extensively with Operations and at various levels of the organization.
  • Problem solving and troubleshooting abilities in a fast paced and demanding environment.
  • Collaborative mindset with cross-functional teams.
  • Adaptability and resilience in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams).

Measures of Success :

  • Projects delivered on time, budget and with expected scope.
  • Functional area leaders feel included and heard and give positive survey scores.
  • Executive team get dashboard KPIs to allow for enhanced visibility and decision making.
  • CRM and Production planning are delivered within 18 months.
  • Business systems are implemented with adherence to best in class standards.
  • Received positive feedback from internal stakeholders and implementation partner.
