Overview

This position is responsible for the installation, maintenance, monitoring, troubleshooting, and repair of refrigeration systems and heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems within the limitations of the Energy Act, in the City of Kitchener buildings. Responsibilities

• Schedule and perform regular equipment and maintenance verification on HVAC equipment.
• Test and maintain water treatment program.
• Assist in the updating of files and records as it relates to HVAC equipment.
• Conduct seasonal startups and changeovers.
• Diagnose cause of problems and / or failures in refrigeration and HVAC systems.
• Test performance of HVAC and refrigeration units.
• Diagnose / ​install building control systems.
• Service and maintain gas‑fired equipment.
• Interact with building personnel to ascertain problems and locations of needed work.
• Respond to routine and emergency calls for repairs and service during regular hours, for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns.
• Assist in the commissioning of new, reconditioned, or repaired equipment in existing and new facilities.
• Inspect installation / repairs performed by outside contractors for conformance to specifications.
• Perform on‑call duties and emergency work as required.
