DuPont - Facilities Services and Real Estate seeks an Electrician to support our Kingston, Ontario, Canada location.
This site hosts small lots manufacturing and research operations from the various Dupont businesses and you will be part of Facilities Services & Real Estate team.
The site systems comprise of HVAC, domestic water, High Quality Water, centralized gas and vacuum systems, life safety systems, raw chill water, steam, gas fired boiler system, sanitary sewer & storm piping, research pilot plants and low volume manufacturing.
Roles and Responsibilities
Instrumentation and Electrical installations, commission, repairs & calibration of equipment
Flexibility to apply skills in both the Electrical and Instrumentation fields
Conduct instrumentation evaluation and troubleshooting for electrical, pneumatic, electronic as well as programmable logic control (PLC) systems.
Conduct test related to functional performance on instrumentation as needed by facility changes.
Comply with classification and prioritization system for completion of work order.
Ensure to interpret and suitably use electrical codes along with Canadian installation practices and standards.
Assist planning plus operations staff to identify skills and resource needed to complete planning and reactive work activities.
Manage work effectively in a primarily dayshift environment but maybe required to support manufacturing on a call-in basis
Work with minimum supervision and be a self-starter
Audit and initiate resolutions to unsafe conditions and deviations from Provincial and Dupont Electrical Standards
Actively contribute to ongoing improvements to Site Electrical Safety as a member of the Site Electrical Safety Team
Interpret Electrical and Instrumentation Diagrams and Manufacturers Literature to make necessary repairs and modifications
Read and interpret electrical schematics and the electrical codes to determine wiring layout for new installations
Meet with Electrical Safety Authority Inspector to maintain the Continuous Service Agreement Log Book
Troubleshoot and repair faults in Electrical Distribution Equipment, Variable Speed Drives, Combination Starters, Motor Control Centers, SCR Heater Control Panel
Understanding of Electrical Safety requirements of CSA with respect to Arc Flash Hazard mitigation and PPE requirements when working inside the arc flash boundary
Conduct preventative maintenance programs on electrical equipment in the production environment within Research
Installation of Indoor Dry Type Transformers, sizing of primary and secondary overcurrent protection for Transformer
Installation, troubleshooting and repair of 3 phase squirrel cage induction motors, single phase motors and DC motors. Sizing of overcurrent protection for Motors
Modifications to existing fire alarm system
Installation and repair of three phase fused and non-fused isolation switches and Panel boards
Qualifications & Competencies
Industrial Electrician or Instrumentation / Electrical Technician C of Q, or ability to obtain C of Q within six months.
At least 4 years’ experience with Electrical and Instrumentation maintenance, preferably in an Industrial Establishment
Familiarity with Programmable Logic Controllers and Variable Frequency Drive field troubleshooting
Strong Analytical and problem solving / troubleshooting skills
Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills both written and oral
Strong Commitment to Safety and Ethical standards
Ability to work alone or in small teams
Energetic and self motivated
Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast paced environment
