Reporting to the GIS Manager, the GIS Specialist will bridge geospatial, CAD/BIM, and construction operations. You’ll own data integration flows with FME, maintain spatial data that supports RFP, design, pre‑construction, and field execution; and build scalable tools (scripts/dashboards) to improve decision-making and reduce rework.
What You’ll Do Here:
- Work with GIS Manager to design and effectively employ geospatial solutions on regulatory and permitting elements of infrastructure and transportation planning projects.
- Build and maintain ETL pipelines in FME to integrate CAD/BIM (DWG/DGN/RVT/IFC), survey, as‑built, LiDAR, and enterprise GIS (Esri) into authoritative datasets.
- Support construction ops: field maps, work packages, redlines/as-builts, utility conflicts, spatial QA/QC, and progress tracking.
- Develop scripts/tools (e.g., Python, ArcGIS API, ArcPy, FME transformers, REST) to automate workflows and publish web maps/apps.
- Manage CAD/GIS schema alignment, layer standards, projections, georeferencing, versioning, and metadata.
- Build dashboards (ArcGIS Dashboards/Experience Builder/Power BI) and publish web services (feature/imagery/tiles).
- Collaborate with IDD team for requirements, support, and training.
- Site travel will be required 20% of the time within Ontario (mostly GTA).
- Perform other duties as needed.
What You Bring to the Team:
- 3–7 years in GIS with FME and CAD/BIM-to-GIS data integration experience.
- Strong with Esri stack (ArcGIS Pro/Enterprise/Portal/Online), geodatabases, feature services.
- Hands-on with CAD/BIM formats (DWG/DGN/RVT/IFC), georeferencing, coordinate systems.
- Construction lifecycle exposure (design → precon → construction → as-built/asset handoff).
- Python (ArcPy or ArcGIS API for Python), SQL; understanding of REST services is considered an asset.
- Experience with Field Maps/Survey123/Collector, Revit/IFC extractions, Civil 3D is considered an asset.
- Knowledge and experience with Power BI is considered an asset.
- QA/QC frameworks, data governance, ISO/COGO, utility mapping knowledge is considered an asset.
- Strong organizational, time management and interpersonal skills.
