Compensation : $35.00 to $45.00 hourly

Our client in the Education sector is seeking a Senior Financial Officer for a 3-month contract (possible extension / permanent, full-time opportunity).

Reporting to the CFO, the Senior Financial Officer is responsible for the full-cycle accounting, accounts payable and receivable. The incumbent in this role is responsible for monitoring budgets, managing records, reconciling transactions, preparing reports and balance sheets. As a Senior Financial Officer, you will be working closely with various departments under the organization’s portfolio to ensure alignment and compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and practices.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Performing full-cycle accounting and financial functions
  • Overseeing and coordinating financial reporting for provincial and federal government funding
  • Overseeing all accounts payable and accounts receivable functions
  • Ensuring all month / quarter / year-end accounting duties and financial reporting are completed in a timely and accurate manner
  • Working with payroll system to execute payroll and required filings, including generating and distributing T4s, ROEs
  • Filing GST, WCB and other government remittances
  • Preparing year-end auditing requirements and supporting the year-end audit process

Job Requirements : Requirements :

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Accounting, Finance or related discipline
  • Minimum 4 years of related experience in accounting or finance roles
  • CPA designation completed or in the process is preferred
  • Must have prior experience in QuickBooks and advanced knowledge of Excel
  • Self-starter with excellent interpersonal communication as well as written skills, coupled with a strong sense of self-motivation and accountability
  • Excellent computer skills using office productivity software such as Excel, Word and PowerPoint
