Scope
The City of Surrey's Community and Recreation Services Division aims to build healthy communities where all people are active and engaged for life.
As part that commitment, we're looking for a Community Services Assistant 3 to help build engagement and a sense of belonging with Surrey's residents in licensed Before and After School Care programs.
Responsibilities
The Community Services Assistant is responsible for planning, scheduling, and implementing programs and events for residents of Surrey. Duties include :
- Lead the planning, implementation and evaluation of Before and After School Care programs; ensure programs are creative, flexible, and adaptable
- Supervise, train, and support teams of program instructors and volunteers.
- Develop and maintain strong collaborative relationships with community members, organizations, and City staff.
- Plan, organize and implement events for the community.
- Support the marketing and promotion of programs and services.
- Provide customer service and handle questions, concerns and complaints.
- Assist with other administrative and practical tasks when necessary. Qualifications
We're looking for an enthusiastic individual with a passion for and experience working with school-aged children and the community.
Our ideal candidate is a person who is flexible and able to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
You will have :
- Completion of Grade 12 and some post-secondary education from a recognized institution, supplemented by 2 years related experience including supervision in recreation work or area of specialty or an equivalent acceptable combination of training and experience.
- A current Emergency First Aid and CPR certificate (or acceptable equivalent).
- A valid BC Driver's License with safe driving history.
- Sound knowledge of operation of standard office equipment including a computer terminal and software applications related to the work performed.
Other Information
Pay Grade : Schedule D
Hourly Rate : $26.29
Conditions of Employment
This position requires completion of a Police Information Check.
