What You’ll Be Doing
As a Sr. Database Administrator, you will be joining the Platform Shared Services, Application Operations, Database Administration Team. You will be responsible for providing database support related to Oracle build, migration, performance tuning and incident resolutions as well as addressing questions from application owners and developers, working closely with various CIBC Technology groups. You will also be responsible for day‑to‑day operational activities for Oracle DBs, managing escalations, modifying established procedures and approaches to suit specific situations including 24×7 on‑call and production support.
How You’ll Succeed
- Project Delivery – Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) and provide inputs to database standards, designs and best practices ensuring compliance with relevant organizational standards. Research, analyze and support the development and implementation of new and / or revised technology, procedures and standards. Work with project managers to develop implementation plans, perform database upgrades and migration activities, and adopt agile methodology.
- Production Support – Take a leading role in tackling critical complex production problems. Investigate, troubleshoot operational issues and set priority based on severity, risk and / or strategic business needs. Provide inputs to database standards, designs, best practices and recommend changes to fit specific application requirements.
- Collaboration – Work as a liaison with business and technology partners, Technology Leadership, internal and external clients and stakeholders, including Solution Design, Database Engineering, Information Security, Architecture teams and external vendors.
- Automation – Assist in automating manual processes using various DevOps tools such as Ansible, Jenkins, GitHub, Artifactory and shell scripting.
Who You Are
7+ years of experience in Oracle Database Administration and strong experience in developing design plans for Oracle (Exadata and non‑Exadata) and PostgreSQL database upgrade, patching and data migration. An asset if you also have experience in developing Ansible automation scripts to deploy code, database migrations and implement security hardening with Oracle Native Security products (TDE, Vault, OKV and DBSAT).Degree / diploma in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a similar field.Act like an owner : thrive when empowered to take the lead, go above and beyond, and deliver results.Values matter to you.
