Accounts Receivable Representative – Financial Services
Join Mackenzie Health as an integral part of the Finance department in the Patient Accounts Team. In this role you will provide exceptional service to patients and their families regarding financial matters.
Responsibilities
- Review and manage assigned accounts from billing until payment.
- Mail out bills, statements and claims on a daily basis.
- Send claims to insurance companies for processing.
- Interview patients to set up payment contracts.
- Receive and post payments, issue receipts as needed.
- Post check and cash receipts.
- Process OHIP / WSIB payments and adjustments.
- Prepare documentation for submission to the collection agency.
- Identify credits and refunds for processing.
- Follow up on missing or incomplete documentation with patients.
- Determine accounts for collection.
- Perform close‑day functions.
- Liaise with nursing floors and other departments to ensure billing completeness.
- Respond to customer enquiries.
- Back up for departmental absences – cashier and receptionist duties and physician payment processing.
- Prepare and deliver weekly interim billing letters to patient rooms.
- Provide reports to the Supervisor of Accounts Receivable.
- File as required.
- Perform duties assigned by the Supervisor of Accounts Receivable.
- Support the patient accounts team as needed.
Requirements
College diploma in accounting or business‑related field.One year of experience in accounts receivable.Preferred Qualifications
Experience in a hospital environment.Epic knowledge.Two years of experience in accounts receivable.Degree in accounting or business.Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams).Intermediate Excel skills (look‑ups, pivots).Additional accounting courses or experience.Ability to work independently and in a team environment.Strong customer service, organizational and interpersonal skills.Excellent communication, problem‑solving and decision‑making skills.Detail‑oriented, accurate data entry.Proven attendance record.Compliance with patient and staff safety policies.Empathy and discretion in interactions with patients.Alignment with Mackenzie Health values (excellence, leadership, empathy).Commitment to an exceptional experience for staff and clients.Equal Opportunity Employer – Mackenzie Health is an inclusive and equal‑opportunity employer.
