Overview
The Cost Engineering Team is looking for a Software Engineer II. The engineer is responsible for driving financial visibility, cost efficiency, and long‑term economic sustainability across our cloud infrastructure. We blend engineering, data analysis, and financial insight to ensure that every technical decision upholds availability while preserving cost efficiency.
What You'll Do
- Break down larger projects into individual tasks, deliver them in multiple phases, and collaborate with others to ensure timely delivery of work.
- Support peers and stakeholders in the product development lifecycle by collaborating with product management, design, and analytics to articulate technical constraints and partner on decisions that consider risks and trade‑offs.
- Support the operations and availability of the team’s artifacts by creating and monitoring metrics, escalating when needed, and supporting “keep the lights on” and on‑call efforts.
- Contribute to a sense of community on the team by engaging in growth and development activities such as participation in the interview process.
What We Look For
1.5+ years of experience as a software engineer.Experience designing, developing, and launching backend systems and proficiency in Python or Kotlin.Familiarity with the building blocks of distributed systems and technologies like AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes.Experience building out cost visibility via tagging and creating cost savings opportunities via cost analysis.Strong problem‑solving skills that allow you to translate simple problems or business scenarios into solutions that interact with multiple software components, writing clear, well‑tested, and extensible code.Comfort navigating a large code base, debugging others’ code, and providing feedback through code reviews.Demonstrated ownership of growth, proactively seeking feedback from team, manager, and stakeholders.Strong verbal and written communication skills to support effective collaboration with a global engineering team.Either equivalent practical experience or a Bachelor’s degree in a related field.Compensation
Pay Grade - L
Equity Grade - 5
Base pay range : $125,000 – $175,000 per year
Pay structure is simple and transparent, based on location, experience, and job‑related skills. Total compensation may include equity, monthly stipends for health, wellness, and tech spending, and benefits.
