Massage Therapist

Description :
Massagetherapists assess soft tissues and joints of the body for treatmentand prevention of dysfunction injury pain and physical disorders.
They work in private practice including group or team practiceshospitals clinics extended care facilities rehabilitation centersand educational institutions.
WorkWeek Duration :
Between35 to 40 hours
JobDuties :
- Assess clientsby conducting range of motion and muscle tests and proposetreatment plans
- Explain procedures risks andbenefits to clients
- Administer massagetechniques treating soft tissues and joints of the body throughsoft tissue manipulation relaxation techniques hydrotherapy triggerpoint therapy joint pain and lower grade mobilizations remedialexercise programs and client selfhelpprograms
- Suggest home care instructions andprovide information about techniques for further posturalimprovement and stretching strengthening relaxation andrehabilitative exercises
- Maintain records oftreatments given
- Consult with other healthcareprofessionals such as physiotherapists chiropractors physicians andpsychologists when developing treatment plans forclients
Qualifications :
- Certificationby the respective college and in goodstanding
- Excellent communication andinterpersonal skills
- Commitment to ongoingmedical education
- Ability to manage a diverserange of health issues in patients of all agegroups
- High on discipline punctuality courtesyethics with a strong moral compass andcompassion
