About You
We’re looking for people with character : Safety-minded, motivated, resilient, and forward-thinking. This is the dream role for someone who is looking to deliver high standards within the Governance Department, which is vital in supporting the distillation and maturation processes at the Diageo Gimli Distillery to ensure the production of high-quality whisky for the Crown Royal Brand.
You will bring with you, preferable experience within a laboratory setting, you are proficient with computers, having good skills with MS Excel and MS Outlook.
You will have a proven ability to multi-task and prioritize your day with flexibility, which makes you shine in your ability to organize yourself in a way that works within the team as well as on your own.
Strong sensory ability is key to this role, the ability to see, smell and taste.
About The Role
This position as part of the Governance Team will play a key role in delivering on the safety and quality commitments of the organization in ensuring that Diageo’s high standards are maintained.
The Laboratory Technician is a permanent part-time position based on 24 hours per week with additional hours required for vacation coverage, normally during summer months & holidays.
We offer variable shifts including days, weekends & holidays.
The Laboratory Technician will be integral in ensuring that key testing criteria are completed and communicated in a timely manner.
You will also be responsible for data entry, administrative assistance. On the job training is provided.
Key outputs of the role are :
- Testing / inspection of incoming grain to ensure conformance to specifications,
- Analytical testing on process samples and finished product to ensure adherence to specifications,
- Operation of various laboratory instruments,
- Sensory analysis of distillates and maturates,
- Maintain sensory laboratory, sensory standards, and sample shipping,
- Support compliance to ISO 9001 and the Quality Management System,
- Deliver on Quality objectives as assigned,
- Other duties as assigned by the Governance Team
