Job Summary
The DDC Programmer is responsible for programming the electronic controllers that run the commercial HVAC ventilation systems manufactured by the company.
You will be working as part of a team within the Electrical Engineering Department in a team of several talented and experienced programmer technicians and electrical engineers.
Your primary function will be to focus on programming the PLC's of the systems sold and delivered to customers in perfect condition.
You will be able to suggest recommendations to improve the programs (software) developed to date by the company and will also participate in the development of new products with the R&D team.
Main responsabilities
- Develop programming, graphics and sequences of operations for DDC systems;
- Adapt programs (software) in accordance with the sequence of operations (SOP) and in accordance with the company's standards, controls drawings, electrical plans, power circuits and piping / HVAC circuits present in the unit;
- Understand AutoCAD or schematic drawings and therefore, understand the pictograms related to the industry and specifically, the HVAC systems as produced by the company;
- Maintain accurate and complete project documentation to company standards;
- Participates in final inspection and testing, ensures customer acceptance in collaboration with plant test bench technicians for program deployment in the DDC controller;
- Record and communicate deviations to the engineering team;
- Participate in problem solving related to DDC programming and unit operation before the systems leave the factory and in support once the unit is installed at the customer site;
- Perform all other tasks related to your duties.
Exprience and training
Training and experience
- College or specialized technical school diploma in instrumentation and controls;
- Have a minimum of 1 year of experience in the field of controls related to refrigeration systems and / or commercial air conditioning systems.
Specific knowledge
- Experience with PLC programming using function blocks, relay logic, etc;
- Experience with programming on OEM Control (Automated Logic) and Carel;
- Mastery of BacNEt and ModBUS;
- Good spatial perception and 3D visualization;
- Ability to work with P&ID, typical air plant sequences of operations, drawings and diagrams, bill of materials (BOM);
- In-depth theoretical knowledge of the operation of air handling units including fans, variable frequency drives (VFD), various heating systems either natural gas or electric or hot water, air conditioning system with scroll compressors, modulating valves for water, servomotors and all types of sensors for temperature, humidity and / or pressure; (Important asset)
- Basic knowledge of AutoCAD drawing software; (Asset)
- Occasional experience in starting up different HVAC systems on site; (Asset)
- Knowledge of various programs used in the HVAC industry; (Asset)
- Proficiency in English (reading specifications, communications, etc.) is required.
