The ideal candidate will be responsible for appropriately evaluating the cost of a project (manufactured concrete pressure pipe), and evaluating the cost to take on that project.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare quotes, make price requests and update databases of estimates and potential suppliers.
  • Provides preliminary estimates for planning purposes and detailed itemized estimates based on final plans and specifications.
  • Interpret documentation, specifications and design drawings to define scope / content of estimates and prepare and participate in meetings with sales, production, clients, joint venture partners and consultants.
  • Prepare work breakdown structures, bills of quantities and requests for quotations.
  • Identify local subcontractors and suppliers, request quotes and prepare comparison sheets.
  • Verification that the tender complies with the contractual requirements and the quality requirements.
  • Detailed responsibilities include preparation of quotes and claims, management of addenda, collection of prices from suppliers, analysis of the feasibility / profitability of projects,
  • Verification of documents included in the quote, validation of contractual documents as well as project management support for changeover costs and additional work.
  • Fluent in French and English

Qualifications / Requirements

  • AutoCAD knowledge is mandatory
  • Able to read and interprate civil and process drawings
  • Mathematics knowledge, trigonometry basis is necessary
  • Be able to do a take-off and layouts starting from consultant drawings
  • Strong blueprint reading and interpretation skills
  • Technical expertise in construction products manufacturing, specifically concrete pipe
  • Detail oriented and & awareness.
  • Interpersonal skills - strong interpersonal and communication, team worker
  • Fluent in French and English
  • Capability to work in a faced paced time sensitive environment, working with tight deadlines
  • Post secondary education in an engineering discipling (technologist level at minimum); Bachelor's degree an asset

  • Solid understanding of basic accounting principles
  • 3 to 5 years' of construction sector experience
