Job description

Consider joining us as a Production Builder if:

You have experience troubleshooting and solving mechanical challenges. You may have worked as an apprentice or mechanic or building furniture or equipment. You are curious, friendly, and empathetic, finding satisfaction in solving problems and helping others. You are comfortable using and working with manual and power tools.

About Motion:

Canadian-owned and operated, Motion is Canada’s leading full-service mobility and accessibility solutions provider and has served communities across Alberta, BC, Manitoba, Ontario, and Saskatchewan for more than 40 years through our network of 48 locations. Our knowledgeable and caring team of experts supports individuals and those who care for them by delivering solutions that make life accessible for everyone. Our products include wheelchairs, walkers, mobility scooters, power lift recliners, lifting devices, homecare and adjustable beds, bathroom safety items, and more. Whether our clients are 1 or 100, we have products to ensure the independence, mobility, and safety of clients of all ages.

The Role:

We are currently adding a knowledgeable Production Builder to our team in Ontario. You will be trained on the tools you will be working with and the equipment you will be repairing. This is a busy and vital role in our warehouse. The main function of this role is to stage, build, and set-up mobility and evaluation equipment.

What’s in it for you:

Growth opportunity. This is a chance to gain deep and practical insights into our industry, be involved in every aspect of what we do, and take ownership for your own success. You will learn the functionality and benefits of our products and services, and work in partnership with healthcare providers, clients, and your colleagues to ensure an exceptional client experience.

Impact. Every day provides a new opportunity to create a tangible impact on the lives of our clients. At Motion, you will find deep professional satisfaction knowing that your work matters to people in your community and beyond.

Professional development and networking. At Motion, we nurture a continuous learning and skills development environment. You will have:

  • Access to our internal Learning Portal, where we have a vast library of training on our products and processes and professional development topics.
  • The opportunity to work with industry leaders who will guide you on your journey and ensure you have the tools you need to succeed.
  • The chance to attend industry events, including Motion’s own Rehab Expos, where you can network with vendors, occupational therapists, and your peers.

How you will spend your days:

  • Diagnose and repair. You will quickly learn how to repair wheelchairs and custom mobility equipment and how to navigate our software system. You will assess issues with manual and power devices, troubleshoot batteries and functionality, and repair equipment.
  • Clean and organize. You will clean and organize equipment in the warehouse, and stage equipment in designated areas. Pick components and prepare wheelchairs for assembly and assess equipment for quality and cleanliness.
  • Collaborate with teams. You will work closely with others on the production team and in the warehouse to ensure daily tasks are complete. You will perform quality control checks to ensure mobility equipment was put together accurately and safely for our clients

Who you are:

You want to be part of a company that is making a positive and tangible impact on people’s lives. You are looking for a company with purpose where there is a rainbow of opportunities; a place that supports internal promotions and development. You want a chance to grow into other Technical roles.

What you bring:

  • Technical Skills. You have previous experience with electrical, mechanical or manufacturing diagnostic tools. Knowledge of HME (Home Medical Equipment), elevating, mobility products would be considered an asset.
  • Analytical skills. An avid troubleshooter, you are innovative and efficient in your approach to solving problems.
  • Willingness to learn. You thrive in an environment where you work with your hands and are able to pick up new skills quickly. Through mentorship and training, we will provide you with all the tools and resources to be successful as our new Production Builder.
  • Additional must have requirements. You are able to lift up to fifty (50) pounds in order to move or repair equipment and devices. You have a clean criminal background check and are bondable.
