The Opportunity

Are you looking for a caring, collaborative, values-driven workplace with inspiring teammates and leaders? Do you have the ambition and desire to be the best and thrive at the world's most impactful global insurance provider? Look no further than Zurich Canada.

If you have advanced experience in financial analysis and modeling and are seeking a new challenge, we would love to hear from you.

Zurich Canada is currently looking for a Senior Planning & Performance Analyst, to serve as a key support partner within the Finance Planning & Performance Management team. This role goes beyond traditional financial reporting - it focuses on delivering insights, building financial models, and supporting decision-making that drives business performance.

Reporting to the Head of Planning & Performance Management for Zurich Canada, you will provide analyses of business unit results, enhance reporting, planning and forecasting processes, and collaborate cross-functionally to align financial objectives with business goals.

This is a unique opportunity to build your knowledge and experience for the future in a supportive environment where your voice matters. This posting is for an existing vacancy.

Zurich Canada uses artificial intelligence–enabled tools to support certain aspects of the recruitment process, including the initial review and screening of applications. Artificial intelligence is not the sole basis for candidate shortlisting or selection. All hiring decisions are reviewed and made by qualified hiring professionals.

Zurich follows a hybrid work model requiring three days per week of in-person presence, which may include time in the office or market-facing engagements.

What you will do

  • Support the AVP, Planning & Performance Management and Head of Planning and Performance Management by preparing analytical reviews of overall and independent business unit performance, identifying trends, risks, and opportunities.
  • Deliver timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual performance reports and presentations with commentary and insights to a broad range of executive audiences within Canada and Group Planning & Performance Management.
  • Design and maintain advanced dashboards and reporting tools for leadership visibility.
  • Drive automation and process improvements to enhance reporting efficiency and accuracy. Identify and implement enhancements to planning/forecasting tools, processes, and methodologies.
  • Support special projects and business initiatives, including developing financial models and scenario analysis to strengthen strategic planning and decision-making.
  • Collaborate with Finance, Operations, and Business Unit Partners to align forecasts and KPIs with strategic objectives.

Job Qualifications - What you bring to the table

Required:

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial modeling.
  • Experience with planning tools (e.g., SAP-BPC, Anaplan) and ERP systems (SAP/BW).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to synthesize complex data.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills; ability to tell a compelling story with data.
  • Proven ability to influence without authority and collaborate across functions.
  • Detail-oriented, proactive, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred:

  • 5 or more years of experience in commercial P&C insurance industry.
  • MBA and/or CPA designation is preferred but not required.
  • Familiarity with IFRS 17 standards and insurance industry practices is an asset.
  • Strong knowledge of data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau).

Basic:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Business, Economics, Data Science, or related field and 5 or more years of experience in planning and performance management, or FP&A roles.
  • OR
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and 7 or more years of experience in financial performance and analytics, in P&C Insurance.

This range reflects the expected pay for the role across Canada and may vary depending on factors like office location, specific responsibilities, and individual qualifications. As required by local law, Zurich provides in good faith a reasonable compensation range, but starting salaries may exceed this range based on a candidate’s skills and experience.
