How will you contribute?
The Systems Architect acts as technical authority and subject matter expert, providing advice and guidance on information technology architecture best practices, standards and solutions that support all application development, systems integration and databases.
The Systems Architect is responsible for providing expert architecture services and guidance required to develop, maintain, integrate, support and evolve various systems within the institution’s technology and IT security environment.
The position provides third level technical support in troubleshooting and resolving complex systems problems that require an architecture solution and vision.
The incumbent is also responsible for providing expert advice to programmers and systems analysts, ensuring collaboration with other Senate and House of Commons functional authorities during the custom development or acquisition of Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) solutions.
The position currently has no direct supervisory responsibilities but includes project management responsibilities to assign tasks to employees or consultants and track their delivery.

The general public to staff one (1) indeterminate full-time position in the Information Services Directorate. This selection process may be used to staff determinate or indeterminate positions at the same level with similar requirements.
Prerequisites
- University diploma or degree in Information Technology or equivalent combination of education, training and experience;
- Extensive software experience with a parliamentary hill organization;
- Current and extensive experience (10+ years) with developing software and integrating systems, using state of the art technologies on both Desktop and Web in a Microsoft environment (MSSQL, .
- Net, Windows server, Azure DevOps);
- Experience in leveraging expertise in architecture frameworks in support of client IM / IT projects;
- Expert knowledge of programming : data modeling, database development, desktop application development, enterprise application integration, mobile and web application development;
- Broad knowledge of industry-recognized concepts, frameworks, principles and methods relating to architecture modeling and development;
- Broad technical knowledge of architecture methods and practices as applied to an environment with multiple systems, databases and applications;
- Broad knowledge of business and information architecture modeling, business intelligence;
- Knowledge of the principles, techniques and methods associated with providing third level troubleshooting and determining technical solutions to IT incidents and problems;
