Who are we looking for?

Our Vancouver, British Columbia office is looking for a Senior Ecologist to join our growing team of biologists. We are seeking someone who is passionate about biology, the outdoors and maintains an active outdoor lifestyle.

The position is an important and exciting leadership position of our Western Canada Natural Sciences team.

This role is a combination of project management, client networking, team leadership, technical studies and delivery while collaborating and supporting projects locally, nationally and internationally.

This is a full-time position with opportunities for advancement and partnership.

Working with an energetic and high performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in

  • Lead the growth and management of the multi-disciplinary Ecology team in BC while growing opportunities and capacity
  • Lead project teams and conduct field assessments as and when needed
  • Develop project plans and manage projects
  • Lead technical staff, evaluating and producing bids, proposals, scope and schedules to clients across multiple sectors and service lines
  • Champion relationships with existing GHD clients along with the development of new clients
  • Work with our business development team and pursuit leaders
  • Providing thought leadership, regulatory oversight and mentorship to your team and your clients, both internal and external
  • Management and representation of external and internal client projects to regulators and other partners including interest groups and the public

What you will bring to this role :

  • Bachelor’s degree in biology or similar (ecology or natural resource management) Graduate degree is an asset
  • Must be a registered professional biologist
  • Minimum of 8 years’ experience leading natural science / ecology projects in Western Canada throughout multiple industries within a consulting firm
  • Experience working with multidiscipline teams on Environmental Assessment projects
  • Experience leading environmental assessments in western Canada
  • Shown success and experience leading a team, business, or multi-disciplinary projects on a large scale, including budgeting, forecasting, timesheet approval, and other team leadership skills
  • Possess excellent communication (verbal and written) skills, including technical report writing and reviewing experience
  • Experience interpreting and applying environmental management legislation, regulations and policies
  • Liaise with environmental regulatory agencies, non-government agencies, public and private resource development agencies
  • Must have experience with provincial and federal permitting and experience leading and conducting environmental assessments.
  • Excellent report and proposal writing skills
  • Positive attitude, excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Salary Range : $94,080 - $141,120 based on experience.
