Registered Veterinary Technician, RVT

Location: Newmarket, Ontario

Employment Type: Casual

Schedule: varied shifts available - flexibility to work on rotational shifts

Job Status: Existing

Level: Experienced

404 Veterinary Emergency and Referral Hospital is welcoming an experienced RVT to join our Emergency team. Our Casual pool of RVTs helps cover shifts on days, evenings, weekends, and occasionally overnight in our 24-hour facility. You will be part of a team that offers quality veterinary medicine and patient care.. As a member of the VCA team, your mission will be to win the confidence of our pet parents by delivering an outstanding client experience. We know you have worked hard for your credentialing, and we want you to use the knowledge that you’ve invested your time and talent in.

Key Responsibilities

  • Experience working as a casual or part-time RVT

  • Supporting multiple patient appointments in our emergency services area

  • Working on varying shifts with different team members

  • Supporting our Doctors and Technician Supervisors with varied requirements based on patient cases

  • Updating digital medical records accurately

  • Developed confidence to work in a sometimes demanding environment

  • Multitasking: the ability to work on one task and pivot to address a secondary task quickly

Skills You Will Use:

You’ve worked hard for your credentialing, and we want you to use the knowledge that you’ve invested your time and talent in. The skills that you will be utilizing include, but are not limited to:

  • sample collection and catheter placement

  • critical care and emergency procedures

  • radiology

  • anesthesia monitoring

  • physical examinations and patient assessment

  • some surgical preparation and assisting on an emergency basis

  • laboratory work

  • pharmacy

  • patient recovery
