Job Title : Unit Clerk (subsequent)

Status : Regular Part Time

Department : Day Surgery Unit, LHAP

Program : Surgical Program

Days, Evenings, Nights, Weekends; 8 Hour Shifts (Subject to Change)

Location : Lakeridge Health Ajax-Pickering

Wage Schedule : $28.340 - $29.620 per hour

This position is open to all qualified CUPE staff throughout Lakeridge Health commencing 4 December 2025 and closing at 11 : 59 pm on 9 December 2025.

Duties And Responsibilities

The main clerical responsibilities include; maintenance and preparation of patient charts, facilitating patient flow, admission, discharge and unit to unit transfer process. Professional accountabilities include; the maintaining patient confidentiality and documentation. The preferred candidate will have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office, UKG Operating System, OR Manager PICIS, onBase and will be responsible for other clerical duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Medical Office Administration Certificate or equivalent combination of education and experience in a hospital clerical or medical office setting;
• Previous experience transcribing doctor's orders;
• Knowledge of medical terminology (tested);
• Knowledge of MS Word and Excel (tested);
• Knowledge with OR Manager, an asset;
• Knowledge of OnBase, an asset;
• Keyboarding skills at 35 wpm (minimum) (tested);
• Knowledge of CUPE and ONA scheduling language and associated premium entitlements;
• Ability to work with minimal supervision;
• Ability to prioritize organize and multi-task in a fast paced environment;
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills within a team environment;
• Able to work in an environment that includes reaching, bending, and pulling;

• Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to Lakeridge Health's comprehensive safety programs and practices including staff, patient and environmental safety and participation in regular in-service in this area

Conditions Of Employment

The terms and conditions of employment are in accordance with the Collective Agreement between the Hospital and C.U.P.E Local 6364.

Successful External applicants must provide a satisfactory Criminal Investigation Reference for the vulnerable sector, dated within the past six (6) months.
