We invite applications for the position of : We invite applications for the position of Program Worker - Interpreter - Elementary / Secondary, 27.95-28.75 hours per week, Monday through Friday. The current rate of pay is $34.07 per hour plus 16.3% in lieu of benefits (equivalent to $39.62 per hour). Qualifications : Bachelor of Arts is preferred; a combination of a diploma in Sign Language Interpretation and other course work in ASL-English and Interpreting will be considered; active membership in provincial and / or national interpreter associations such as Westcoast Association of Visual Language Interpreters (WAVLI); at least, two years experience working as an interpreter; experience working with school-aged population is preferred; proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) to provide message equivalent interpretations; willingness to work in an inclusionary setting supporting differentiated instruction with adapted and modified curriculum; ability to deal effectively with staff and students; meets the physical requirements of the position; ability to work independently and as a member of a team; excellent interpersonal and communication skills.Duties / Responsibilities : Duties are performed under the supervision of the school / district Principal or Vice Principal and the Director of Inclusive Education or designate; follows the guidance and leadership of the Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, learning support teacher and the classroom teacher(s); maintains familiarization with instructional vocabulary and concepts in preparation for classroom interpreting; provides interpreting for deaf and hard of hearing students, classmates and educational staff; provides tutorial assistance to deaf and hard of hearing students when required and to other students when available; carries out personal and health care routines as directed; provides interpreting for extra-curricular activities and parent meetings as required; participates in student observation, data collection and implementation of the individual education plan; provides information to school based team, itinerant staff and relevant agency personnel as requested by School / Program leaders; follows proper work procedures, observes all regulations pertinent to the work, maintains a good working relationship with other employees, and cooperates in maintaining a healthy learning and working environment; performs other related duties as assigned by the Supervisor; student supervision as required by the Principal or Vice Principal.Locations are determined by Inclusive Education and are subject to change.
