Description

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

PLEASE NOTE : Provisional Permit holders will be paid $39.58 - $54.16 per hour. Upon obtaining a full licence, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable.

Required Qualifications

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification. Additional Required Qualifications

Strong communication (oral & written), organizational, decision making and critical thinking skills are essential, along with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment. Working knowledge of Microsoft computer applications including Word, Outlook, and data entry. Recent experience (within the past two years) working in Connect Care (CC), Netcare, previous Meditech and other electronic health record systems. Must be able to perform within established program parameters. Experience in administering injections or immunizations, whether through clinical placements or employment required. Experience working with infants, young children, and families is highly valued. Must be able to work in a loud, chaotic, busy environment. Ability to walk 3-4 blocks at a time while carrying, pushing, pulling 50 lbs. of equipment, climb 4 flights of stairs while carrying 50 lbs. of equipment, carry out awkward and repetitive movements for an entire 8-hour shift, sitting, standing, reaching and / or bending for long periods of time. Will be required to document in CC continuously throughout the day. Be able to comply with appropriate hand hygiene techniques, including regular use of alcohol-based hand sanitizer and antibacterial soap. Candidates must demonstrate adaptability, professionalism, and a commitment to public health principles.

Preferred Qualifications

Baccalaureate degree in nursing preferred; however, skills and experience relevant to nursing practice in the community sector and public health nursing unit will be considered. Recent nursing experience including prenatal, labour & delivery, postpartum or working with young families or the pediatric population preferred. Maternal / newborn certifications such as breastfeeding courses and childbirth education. Familiarity with culturally safe care practices is also beneficial.
