Overview
Sr. Contracts Administrator role at Aecon Group Inc.
As part of an alliance with Kiewit Nuclear Canada and Ontario Power Generation (OPG), Aecon has been awarded the contract for the Darlington New Nuclear Project (DNNP) and will support the Construction of the Unit 1 Small Modular Reactor at the Darlington site starting in 2025. Reporting to the Project Director, the Sr. Contracts Administrator will support the commercial and contract management of DNNP and related projects in Ontario.
What is the Opportunity?
As part of an alliance, Aecon is responsible for commercial and contract management on the DNNP. The role ensures accurate and timely commercial advice in accordance with Aecon’s policies and project requirements.
What You’ll Do Here
- Work within an integrated project delivery team to manage commercial / contractual issues in agreement with the Project Manager.
- Change management, including schedule interpretation and claims administration.
- Implement an effective system to ensure all contractually required notices are delivered to the client in accordance with the project agreement.
- Administer the project contracts (project agreement, subcontracts, consultancy agreements, purchase agreements).
- Ensure all contract deliverables and timelines are met while providing leadership to minimize commercial risk on project contracts.
- Lead the drafting, review and negotiation of various contracts with clients and subcontractors.
- Implement and monitor procurement scheduling and plans; facilitate competitive tendering for materials, goods, services and equipment; develop terms and conditions, scope and specifications; oversee bidding with pre-qualified companies; evaluate bids and provide tender analyses and recommendations.
- Engage with Aecon’s insurance advisors to develop appropriate project insurance programs and coverages.
- Consult with Aecon’s legal advisors when appropriate.
- Develop a risk management and mitigation plan to identify potential risks for the project; proactively analyze risks during the bid phase.
- Manage project close-out / post practical completion, including defect liability period and O&M.
- Maintain a good understanding of finance, accounting and project reporting.
- Coordinate subcontract deliverables with other functions (Construction, Project Controls, Finance, etc.).
- Manage performance security for subcontractors (performance bonds, letters of credit, subcontractor parental guarantees).
