MatchBox Consulting Group is seeking a Project Scheduler on behalf of our client for a 1-year contract in Edmonton. This role will support a Program Management team delivering multiple high-voltage transmission infrastructure projects, including new and upgraded substations, 240 kV and 72 kV transmission lines, and the replacement or salvage of existing transmission infrastructure.
The successful candidate will bring strong Primavera P6 scheduling experience and will be responsible for developing, maintaining, monitoring, and updating complex project schedules from project inception through closeout. This position works closely with Project Managers, technical teams, contractors, and other stakeholders to monitor progress, identify potential delays, and keep projects aligned with key milestones.
- Location: Edmonton, AB (Hybrid – office based at the client's Edmonton service centre)
- Job Type: 1-Year Contract
- Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:30 a.m.–4:00 p.m.; no overtime.
Responsibilities
- Create, maintain, monitor, update, and distribute complex project schedules using Primavera P6.
- Support multiple high-voltage transmission projects throughout the full project lifecycle.
- Work with Project Managers and technical teams to establish project activities, assignments, tasks, subtasks, and key milestones.
- Develop and maintain effective scheduling and schedule management processes.
- Coordinate project timelines across internal departments, contractors, and external stakeholders.
- Monitor project progress, critical paths, milestones, and deadlines.
- Identify potential schedule delays and work with project teams to support timely intervention and recovery planning.
- Update schedules to reflect project changes, revised priorities, and actual progress.
- Evaluate schedule performance and prepare project progress reports.
- Develop and share P6 layouts, schedule data, and reporting information for different stakeholders.
- Manage project codes, activity codes, user-defined fields, budget and actual resources, and resource information.
- Audit schedule information for completeness and accuracy.
- Develop schedule scenarios and provide information to help project teams expedite or recover project timelines.
- Provide regular schedule updates to Project Controls and Project Management teams.
Qualifications - Must-Haves
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a relevant technical certificate or diploma.
- Minimum 4 years of project scheduling / schedule management experience.
- Strong hands-on experience using Primavera P6 to create and maintain project schedules.
- Experience with project codes, activity codes, user-defined fields, budget and actual resources, and resource management.
- Strong understanding of critical path scheduling and milestone management.
- Experience monitoring project progress and identifying potential schedule delays.
- Experience auditing schedule information for accuracy.
- Ability to develop schedule scenarios and provide data to support project planning and schedule recovery.
- Experience developing schedule layouts and reports for different project stakeholders.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Visio.
- Understanding of foundational project management processes and procedures aligned with the PMBOK.
Nice-to-Haves
- Project scheduling experience within a construction environment.
- Experience supporting high-voltage transmission, substation, or electrical utility infrastructure projects.
- Experience with utility construction in energized substations.
- Experience coordinating schedules across contractors, engineering teams, construction teams, and other stakeholders.
- PMP designation.
- Construction Safety Training System (CSTS) certification or ability to complete the required training within the first month.
