Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Laser Nester responsible for preparing and optimizing nesting programs for CNC laser cutting machines. The role focuses on maximizing material utilization, ensuring production efficiency, and supporting manufacturing operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Create and optimize nesting programs for CNC laser/plasma cutting machines

• Prepare and arrange parts on metal sheets to minimize waste and maximize material usage

• Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and CAD files

• Use nesting software (e.g., Lantek, BySoft, SolidWorks) to generate cutting programs

• Coordinate with production, scheduling, and inventory teams to meet deadlines

• Maintain production schedules and ensure timely job completion

• Troubleshoot programming or cutting issues and support operators

• Ensure quality standards and accuracy of cut parts

• Maintain proper documentation of jobs, materials, and programs

Qualifications

• Experience with CNC laser cutting or nesting/programming (laser/plasma)

• Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, etc.)

• Familiarity with nesting software (Lantek, BySoft, or similar)

• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and measurements

• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills

• Good communication and teamwork abilities

Preferred Requirements

• 2 3+ years of experience in laser nesting/programming

• Experience in metal fabrication or sheet metal industry

• Knowledge of ERP systems and production workflows

• Forklift or shop-floor experience (asset)
