Ter m Educational A ssistant (3 h o urs per day) Bulletin Number : 090-EA-24Date Posted : December 2, 2024 School : Blumenfeld School POSITION DESCRIPTION : Garden Valley School Division invites applications for the position of term Educational Assistant at Blumenfeld School from January 6, 2025 to June 27, 2025. Educational Assistants provide support to all students in the classroom by assisting with assignments, reinforcing strategies introduced by the classroom teacher and listening and responding to student needs. Applicants that have demonstrated experience in the following areas will be given careful consideration : Able to speak and understand Low German would be an asset Flexible, team player, open and receptive to new challenges Implementing student specific plans Supporting students with regulation needs Supervising students during indoor and outdoor duty Supporting students in grade 1-8 with learning, behavioral and / or physical challenges (such as ADHD, Autism, Cognitive or Global Development Delays, etc.) or any other needs that impact student learning.REQUIRED AND / OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS : Grade 12 Diploma Knowledge and experience in applying developmentally appropriate strategies to support the physical, social, behavioural and academic needs of students demonstrated ability to adapt to changing and work as a team member. Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to develop rapport with students, on a one-to-one basis and in group settings. Demonstrated ability to problem-solve, to interpret situations accurately and to respond appropriately and responsibly. Ability to support academic programming including literacy and numeracy. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT : Satisfactory Criminal Record Check, including Vulnerable Sector Search. Clear report from the Child Abuse Registry. Review and comply with Divisional policies and guidelines. Continued employment is subject to maintaining legal eligibility to work in Canada SCHOOL INFORMATION : Blumenfeld School is part of the Border Valley Unit, which is in the Village of Blumenfeld, just a 20-minute drive south of the City of Winkler. This Gr. 1-8 rural school of three classrooms serves the residents of the village and the immediate surrounding area. Blumenfeld School has approximately 60 students, with a teaching staff of four, and a support staff of three. It also shares a resource and administration team with Border Valley School.
